Human Resources' primary responsibility in the workforce is to protect the interests of the corporation while maintaining compliance with various organizational policies, though many individuals misinterpret this as an HR function of simply being the average person's friend in the workplace. HR provides employees with assistance regarding operations and resolving conflicts, yet individuals rely on written company policy when deciding what is acceptable or not, rather than on their emotions or feelings. Employees are obligated to treat HR with the same level of professionalism, and employees must convey their issues with HR via written communication and to create and maintain all necessary documents. Understanding HR's boundaries is imperative in order to avoid placing certain unrealistic expectations upon them that could lead to dissatisfaction at work.
